Irum Rahat (b. 1996, Lahore) paints from a London studio, though her exhibition history rarely stays there. Rajiv Menon Contemporary in Los Angeles lists her among its exhibited artists. In April 2026, Pristine Contemporary in New Delhi gave her a second solo exhibition, Yeh Kab Ki Baat Hai?, two years after her first, Shades of the Familiar, at VM Art Gallery in Karachi. Pakistan's Dawn newspaper and the design publication STIR World have both profiled the work in between. For an artist three years out of a Central Saint Martins MA, the geographic spread of gallery attention across London, Los Angeles, Karachi and Delhi is wide before any single market has taken the lead.

No Price Anywhere Yet

No disclosed auction result for Rahat's work exists in the public record. This is unremarkable for a painter this early, but it means a prospective collector has no independent benchmark against which to test a gallery's asking price: no resale record, no auction estimate, nothing beyond whatever figure the selling gallery names. With three galleries across three countries having shown her work, there is no guarantee those figures agree with one another. Whatever price a work carries today is set entirely by the selling gallery, with no secondary market yet to confirm or contest it.

Four Cities of Attention, One Untested Collector Base

Gallery interest is not collector demand. Rahat's paintings have found dealers willing to give her walls in four cities inside three years, a notable rate of pickup for a painter this early. But solo exhibitions confirm that galleries believe in the work; they do not confirm that a base of collectors is returning to buy it, reselling it, or holding it as a considered position. The distinction between representation and exhibition is exactly the kind of thing worth checking yourself — see how to research an emerging artist before buying. No auction consignment, no publicly reported waitlist, and no confirmed edition structure exist yet to show that interest has organised itself into anything resembling a market.

A Footprint Too Wide to Read Yet

A painter exhibited in Los Angeles, shown solo in Karachi and Delhi, trained and based in London, could be building toward a genuinely international collector base, or could be spreading early institutional goodwill across too many relationships for any single gallery to establish firm pricing discipline. Multi-city attention sometimes precedes a breakout; it can just as easily mean no gallery ever gets to set the market on its own terms. Which of these Rahat's career becomes depends on whether one relationship consolidates into a gallery of record, or whether the geography stays this diffuse. That is not yet answerable from what is public.

The gallery has an interest in the sale. The auction house has an interest in the estimate. This report has neither.

A full Artist Career Trajectory Report on Irum Rahat examines thirteen analytical dimensions independently — from institutional selection and gallery structure through market infrastructure, publication coverage, and auction establishment — and delivers a single rating with a structured risk assessment, based on a proprietary analytical methodology.
